When the butter is hot, add the grated potatoes and cover the pan with a lid. Stir regularly for about 25 minutes.

4

Turn up the heat, compress the potatoes snugly together. fry for another 20 minutes.

Don't stir anymore!!!

5

Place a plate face down on the frying pan. Hold the plate ontop and turn the pan over. The Rosti should fall on the plate.

Serve immediately.

Tips

1

Serve either as an individual meal or as a shared garnish to your meal.

2

Some restaurants put some swiss cheese over the top of the Rosti on the plate (they may put the plate in the oven to melt the cheese before serving)

3

Also popular is frying an egg and puting it ontop of the Rosti before serving.

4

For some nice variations you can add some onions, mushrooms or diced bacon to the rosti at the start.
